LHANBRYDE & DISTRICT GARDENING CLUB

Aims and Objectives
1. Promote and encourage an interest in gardening and home crafts.
2. Promote the annual flower show and plant sale.
3. Promote social and fund - raising events.

The club was founded in the 1960s with the aim of establishing an annual Flower Show, and organising this remains one of the main objectives of the club today. To finance the club, a Coffee Morning and Plant Sale is held in Spring. The Best Kept Gardening Competition was introduced in the year 2000, with a winner and runner-up being chosen annually by independent judges. Members have access to discounted seeds, plants, equipment and compost. Beds of spring-flowering bulbs have been planted around the village by the club, and each summer members prepare flower baskets which are hung along St Andrews Road and watered Weekly on a rota basis. outings, demonstrations and and talks are run throughout the year and are open to all.

Plant Sale/Coffee Morning - last Saturday in May

Members of the club grow bedding plants to sell at this event, and there is always a great atmosphere as eager buyers search for their favourites before enjoying a chat over coffee and home-bakes. This event raised over £1,000 for club funds in 2007.

The Gardening Club has continued for over 40 years because of the enthusiasm of its members and the support of the local community and businesses. A warm welcome is extended to anyone who would like to ensure its future by joining in its activities or lending a hand at any of the forthcoming events.
